Highlights of MSA New Housing Trends

PURPOSE OF THE SERVICE
This new service provides quarterly building permits data for new housing units for each U.S. metropolitan area and analyses of their trends as they evolve during the year. Permits data are reported for the past year and cumulated 3-, 6-, or 9-month year-to-date annual rates for the current and past year. The individual quarterly reports include comparisons of  permits data over time or with other data,  composition of permits in terms of single- and multi-family structures and  their reported values, analytical tabulations and rankings of MSAs, a commentary highlighting the latest results and latest data revisions as they become available..

This service, started in 1997, is intended for use by professionals in construction, building materials, home furnishings, real estate, and financial organizations who are concerned with changes in housing markets. By providing current indicators of metropolitan growth and population shifts, it is also very useful in marketing and local government planning.
