A GEOGRAPHIC DATABASE FOR U.S. ECONOMY, TECHNOLOGY AND GROWTH ON CD-ROM

This CD-ROM is a self-contained data reference source.  However, its usefulness will be enhanced when used together with the book An Atlas of U.S. Economy, Technology and Growth, NPA Data Services, Inc., 1996.  It was prepared in conjunction with the book and it has the same data as the book, as well as additional data from the same sources for the same dates and for other dates.

USING THE INTERACTIVE SOFTWARE

Setup: 
From Program Manager, choose "File" "Run", and specify D:SETUP.EXE, where D: is replaced by your CD-ROM drive letter. 

Running the software: 
In the "NPA Data Services" program group click "Atlas CD-ROM" 

Choose either "State" or "County" data or choose to "Export Data by Map Number" 

If choosing "State" or "County" then: 
Specify state or county 
Choose category 
Choose to either "View," "Print" or "Export" data
If choosing "Export", you will be prompted to enter an "Output Path" (destination filename)
If choosing "Export Data by Map Number" you will be prompted to enter a map number and a destination file name.

To return to previous screen choose "Back" 

To exit software, click "Exit" in the Main Menu 


SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS for interactive software

Windows 3.1 or higher 
8 MB RAM 
7 MB free hard disk space (or 107 MB if instlaling data file to hard disk, see \HARDDISK.TXT for instructions) 
NOTE: The interactive software may not work when the CD-ROM is used in certain network configurations. 

.DBF FILES

The .DBF files are located in directory \DBFFILES.  Their documentation file READ.ME is located in the same directory.
